"Afrikan institutions are necessary so as to help deliver Afrikans into a higher state of peoplehood, into a higher state of completeness. Afrikan institutions are not to misuse the world, but to compliment its positive aspects. Afrikan institutions are to help in the completion of the world in its purest form by instilling in our people identity, purpose and direction. If we see value in this we see value in Afrika and the institutions of Afrika".-- Haki Madhubuti ![]() We promote that all people form study-groups and use The Small Axe Study Group Workbook by Bahati Amal as a guideline for organizing and running your study circle. Why we study: "Studying helps to provide facts, figures and details needed to better understand any subject matter. In addition, it's important because passion and poorly planned action isn't enough. We may mean well when undertaking a youth literacy project or feed the homeless, but studying helps to ground all action-oriented activities with some necessary facts and basis for organizing. We study so we can obtain a broader and deeper understanding of issues. There is very little chance that we can or will gain the great level of knowledge without looking at several texts compiled by authorities in the field. This means that they've taken the time to do the research we don't have to do and made it easy by writing the books for us. These are the basic goals and objectives for members of the study-group.
![]() "The fear, frustration, malice and confusion that [are] caused by racism retards or prevents all constructive activity between the people of the known universe. [Therefore], no major problem that exists between the people of the known universe can be eliminated until racism is eliminated." -- Neely Fuller Jr. Your contributions support our primary goal of building BlackSchools of Counter-Racist Logic (conscious raising teach-ins) in our living spaces. BlackSchool is a dialogue between non-white victims of racism (white supremacy) with the intent of developing a code of behavior for individuals and/or the collective to practice in response to the injustice of the culture/system of racism (white supremacy). We work toward establishing clear communication between each other. We do this by seeking functional definitions to the words we commonly use, asking questions to better understand each other, the unjust culture/system we currently exist in, how it's affecting us, and our response to that system. The "counter-racist logic" concept was brought forward by the Elder Neely Fuller Jr. and institutionalized by Dr. Francis Cress-Welsing at the Welsing Institute in Washington D.C.... BlackSchool is BlackWork Against Genocide's interpretation and contribution to the struggle to eliminate racism (white supremacy) worldwide based on the Welsing Institute model. ![]() Our need to build life-sustaining cultural institutions, to reverse the destruction happening in Black living spaces, is an urgent matter. With Black Arts made available to our people, existing in these danger zones, we plan to unlock the possibilities naturally stored in our people, possibilities that lack proper outlets. Your support goes toward establishing BlackWork's first culture center -"The Solution!" which will be the home of the "Art Riot Co-op" -- a rebirth of the BlackArtsMovement's work of creating uplifting and conscious-raising artforms for the positive development of our peoples spirit, political awareness and cultural possibilities... Your involvement and support in the above mentioned efforts are greatly needed. "When talking about independent institutions, you have to be talking about independent sources of funding. The institutions, if they are to maintain their independence and autonomy, must be funded by the people themselves. Once, we step outside of this source, we endanger not only our credibility, but our independence too." --Haki Madhubuti |
